Local facilities

Moulin du Trou is situated in a very small hamlet serviced by a small country road at the end of a no through lane. The nearest village is Rouvenac (2km) where there is an excellent restaurant ‘The Auberge’, which has very good local reputation.  Bread and other provisions can be delivered daily by arrangement with the mobile bread lady operating out of Esperaza. The region is heavily wooded and as such there is ample firewood available from local suppliers at very reasonable rates.

Esperaza, which is 9kms away, is a delightful little town that is a ‘ville fleurie’ and so beautifully decorated with flowers in the spring and summer months. There are several good restaurants and a thriving Sunday market in the square, which is the highlight of the week and a real social event. The market has stalls ranging from fresh and dry cured meat and cheeses, fruit and vegetables, herbs and spices, clothing, footwear as well as arts and crafts.  Esperaza has an Intermarche and another small supermarket, newsagents, boucherie and patisserie, banks and ATM's, police and fire station, as well as other small shops. There is also a primary school and crèche, doctor’s surgeries, pharmacies, hairdresser, two banks and a post office.

The region is full of interesting activities and local produce and is known for its wines, hunting and fishing, as much as its rich history.  The French Pyrenees ski resorts are close by and the more challenging ski slopes of Andorra are only a 2 hour drive away.  Many other outdoor activities including, golf, kayaking, climbing, walking, hunting, shooting, hawking and fishing are catered for.
